We are Make Hack Void, a Hackerspace* in Canberra, Australia.
Our space (Map) is a community workshop in Downer where members can come to work on their projects, get access to tools and expertise, and meet like-minded people. We have membership options including associate & student membership rates, and casual membership rates.
We also hold Maker Meetups on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Tuesdays of each month where anyone at all can chat, show and tell, get help or advice, and talk about their projects. You don't have to be a member to come to a Meetup.
Our group includes people with extremely diverse interests. Fibreglass moulds to FPGA electronics, Arduinos to DIY pizza ovens. Plus lots more. We're all interested in making things, hacking on projects, and we're not afraid of voiding warranties if we have to.
If you can't make it to the next meeting then subscribe to the Makers mailing list, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or join us in the IRC channel.

HT1632-AVR : Demo video
Adam — Fri, 25/06/2010 - 7:56am
I have finally posted a video of my HT1632-AVR library in action. There's not a lot to the video but I am sick of trying to get Adobe Premiere to play nice with my (possibly lack of supported) CODECS.
AVR Starter Schematics
deece — Tue, 22/06/2010 - 11:13pm
One thing I find myself doing time and time again is dropping a microcontroller into a schematic, then wiring up a crystal, serial port, power filtering, etc.
To save myself (and you!) time, I'm saving schematics with the initial parts already hooked up. To get your project going, grab one of the schematics and delete the parts you don't need for your project.
Download
You can grab the schematics from out GIT repository:
MHVlib Updated
deece — Sun, 20/06/2010 - 12:06pm
More progress has been made on MHVlib - I just added support for passive LED matrices and gamma correction. A/D & PWM support were added last week.
Check it out on the MHVlib project page.

DDR board for the Dreamcast.
Combust — Thu, 10/06/2010 - 1:02pm
Another (Completed!!) project is a DDR (Dance dance revolution) board for the Dreamcast.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves but it is made of MDF with thin aluminium sheet contact cemented down over the top, L-brackets and polycarbonate squares for the pads. Wiring it up was as easy as soldering to the correct buttons on the control pad.

DIFFERENT LOCATION: In the Canberra Centre upstairs food court, next to the escalators to Dendy.
Make, Hack, Void Canberra Meetup #26
Adam — Fri, 04/06/2010 - 2:39pm
Our lack of clear direction is hampering our progress. We have lots of cool thoughts and ideas but we haven't mapped out what we need to do to make them happen. We need to develop a clear and concise strategic plan and document it on the website. I have planned; and will be running; a brainstorming session at this coming meeting to get the big picture mapped out. I will be providing all the materials needed for this session. Including a stack of bright happy textas! I'll be running a pretty strict time line and there will be no bikeshedding. If you need to know more, jump into IRC and I may answer your questions if I feel they wont give too much away. Your best bet is to show up at the meeting, all will be answered then. If you can't make it or you know your going to be late let me know here, in IRC, on the committee mailing list or my email.
We'll be in the Braddon Club's cottage again and I'll try to stick to our regular meeting schedule (Meeting Details). Get there as close to 6:15 as you can so we can get through the action items from the previous meeting, get started on the stategic planning session and hopefully we won't eat into the project show and tell time. It should be a fun night.

Why I wrote HT1632-AVR.
Adam — Fri, 28/05/2010 - 1:33pm
I, like many people, was excited to learn of the Sure Electronics LED Matrix displays going for cheap on ebay. Sure' makes several different LED displays, the most common being the 0832; in red (DE-DP104) or green (DE-DP105) and the 2416; also in red (DE-DP016) or green (DE-DP017).
This is the story of why I wrote my HT1632-AVR library. If that's of interest to you; read on, if you're just after the code; it's in devdsp/HT1632-AVR on GitHub. Read more »
