We are Make Hack Void, an association of geeks & artists. We are forming a Hackerspace in Canberra.

We hold Maker Meetups every fortnight where anyone can chat, show and tell, get help or advice, and talk about their projects. Everyone is welcome at our meetings.

Our group includes people from diverse backgrounds: artistic, technical, mechanical, even retail! We're all interested in making things, hacking on projects, and we're not afraid of voiding warranties if we have to.

If you can't make it to the next meeting then join us on IRC, or subscribe to the Makers mailing list.

xmd — Tue, 09/02/2010 - 9:04pm

I have been meaning to play with an alternative input method for a PC for a while. I have come across plenty of stuff that other people have done - so what I am trying is by no means new.

Logo Needed

deece — Thu, 04/02/2010 - 6:33pm

We desperately need a logo for the site - would anyone be willing to whip something up?

Suggested colours are blues & grays.

I'm thinking something similar to the following from iStockPhoto:

Battery management module

davedave — Wed, 03/02/2010 - 9:41am

The idea is this: create a battery managent board for devices with many expensive batteries. Eg: electric vehicles.
A typical electric vehicle will have between 8 and 50 batteries worth as much as the rest of the vehicle.
So the concept is a microcontroller to run each board (one per battery) and solder bridge jumpers to select battery chemistry, running off the battery it is attatched to. These batteries are 3.4 to 12v nominally so a low power chip should do as long as it is protected from higher volages and noise.

Arcade-style Joystick project, via OCAU

voltagex — Thu, 28/01/2010 - 10:19am

See http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=842473

One of the games I picked up was Street Fighter 4. So I'm building a arcade joystick / fighter stick to play sitting on my desk or lap.

Novel use for an Arduino

mcarden — Wed, 27/01/2010 - 5:29pm

Brilliant use of an Arduino to create a very personal, very clever, wedding gift:
