Emiglio Teardown

Adam — Thu, 22/04/2010 - 6:04pm

Australia/ACT

Angus has kindly offered his Emiglio robot as a mascot for Make Hack Void.

Incase you are wondering this is what Emiglio looks like:

Emiglios

We only have one though.

Emiglio was purchased second hand from a market stall and came without his controller. As it stands there isn't much we can do with Emiglio until we get new control systems in there. This teardown day is for us to work out what controls already exist and how much space there is for new controls. We expect we'll be installing an ARM9 based development board running Linux at some point in the future but there will be lots of design decisions to make before then.

We'll be kicking things off in the Braddon club's cottage at about 12 and will probably stay for the afternoon. Come along and bring your ideas. We may also have room/time to do some general project work but that will depend on who's there and what is available.

Bonus offer: Robosapiens teardown!

angusgr — Thu, 22/04/2010 - 7:53pm

My friend Scot has kindly (foolishly?) given me his first gen Robosapiens as well, so I might bring that too. If we get bored we can tear it down as well.

H drive needed

peeknpoke — Tue, 04/05/2010 - 6:41pm

A driver for the base motors is needed.

The Arduino motor driveshield
is the obvious choice,

but incase no one has laid their hands on one for

the Tuesday 4 May meet, I have built a simple

transistor dual H-drive.
One pin high-forward.

Other pin high-reverse.

Both pins high-polyswitch
gets hot.

Jack.
