Our Space
The Make, Hack, Void space on a quiet afternoon:
Some times when there have been more people around:
Not shown: machine area, junk area piled high with (organised) junk, computers, tools, CNC gear. More photos on flickr.
We have been establishing our space in Downer since January, and it is steadily getting better and better. Please come along and check us out at our next meetup, or look into Becoming a Member so you can come to the space more frequently. It is currently open many times each week (check the calendar or the mailing list.)
If you're not ready to come along or become a member just yet, please do join the Makers mailing list, come on the IRC channel, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook.
Facilities
The space has a number of dedicated areas:
- Meeting area. Tons of table space for working on projects.
- Electronics soldering area. Various soldering & desoldering tools.
- Machine area. Heavy benches, machine tools, CNC gear. A place for heavy duty projects.
- Junk shelves. Organised bits and pieces, from components to computers and bits of interesting scrap.
- Informal area. For chilling out on the couch.
- Containment bund, for working with anything that might make a mess.
- Attached meeting rooms and a kitchenette.
Check out the Membership page for more details about what is available if you want to be become a member.
Before visiting the space
There are rules that apply in the space for everyone's safety & enjoinment. Note that since the space is a workshop you are required to wear enclosed shoes.
Location
Our space is in Frencham St, Downer. In Canberra's inner north.
Getting There
The space is a twelve minute drive from Civic. We don't have a sign on the street yet, look for one that says "ACT Motor Trades Association".
We have a sign now!

ACTION bus number 39 stops just around the corner on Bradfield St. Buses 936 & 937 stop a ten minute walk away on Antill St. Many other buses stop 15 minutes' walk away at Dickson.
The space should also be wheelchair accessible, with a ramp up to the front roller doors (see photos.) There is a disabled toilet inside.
There is also good cycle access from anywhere in the inner north, and plenty of parking (on- and off-street) for cars.

No @MakeHackVoid attendance for me tonight, think I'm going to stay home and hack on home-bound things. Or, just sit here on the couch..
